In this 1950 photo -- taken in his office in the old Orange County Courthouse -- he displays images of his Orange County pioneer ancestors, including his grandmother, Vicenta (Sepulveda) Yorba Carrillo. Charlie's work quickly grew beyond interpreting for the courts and county government. Immigrants throughout Southern California frequently came to him for advice on issues that were complicated by cultural and language barriers.
